When Designer Katherine Carter first met her new clients, they’d just purchased a new build in Los Angeles. The home was a totally blank canvas, but had an elegant, modern flair to it. Reaching out to Homepolish was a no brainer, as they make working with a designer easier than pie — and ease is totally necessary when you’re dealing with a completely empty home! Per the clients’ request, Katherine worked hard to bring bold patterns and textures to the space, while keeping the sophistication in tact. In the dining room, wallpaper from Walnut Wallpaper — an LA staple! — set the scene. A large HD Buttercup chandelier is above the table, bringing that classic Hollywood vibe front and center. In the sitting room, Katherine brought in custom chairs, covered in a luxe chevron print. Walnut Wallpaper is in the living room as well; a beautiful muted grasscloth with a hint of shimmer. And who could overlook the beautiful MGBW cocktail table? Custom was key for the couple — as houndstooth roman shades, crafted just for this space, offer a bit of privacy in the kitchen. So many patterns and textures can get to be overwhelming, but it’s Katherine’s speciality. She stuck with the classics and used materials like velvet to add a bit of richness, while gold amps up the glam factor without feeling gaudy. With so much beauty around every corner, this was a special project for Katherine. “My favorite moments were seeing the rooms transform after the gorgeous wallpapers were installed. [I loved] truly transforming each room and giving them each an identity,” she says.
